Omurice- That is how they named it

As I focus on losing the twenty kilograms gained during past three months, my mischievous mind gave me an idea. During my stay in Taiwan, I have seen foreigners contemplating about their food choices. I have found a solution to save the time which we lose while deciding what to eat. I am going to begin from the corner store of the food court and try its every item on a day-by-day basis and then move on to the next outlet in a clockwise motion. So, on the first day of this exercise, I ordered the food-item mentioned on the second bullet point menu board- “Omelette with rice filled inside and chicken”. The first item was “Omelette with rice inside”, and the wiser part of my mind suggested me to go for the second one at a marginal extra cost. Luckily, the person at the billing counter knew English and half…

Once Upon A Time, She Was…

zikaolofin's avatarZika's Musings

insane 3

Once upon a time, she was sane,
Life couldn’t be rosier, like sugarcane,
Ere the pains of life became her bane,
And ‘joie de vivre’ began to wane.

Once upon a time, not so far away,
A frown she could keep at bay,
The Smile, her winning way,
Gracing her face every day.

Once upon a time, she ‘danced in the rain,’
Her gust of wind daring the weather vane,
We wondered wherefrom such might and main,
This chatterbox who lit up our erstwhile quiet lane.

Once upon a time before she crossed the line,
The thin boundary between insane and not deranged,
Before she lost the stitch that could have saved her nine,
She must have been lucid, she must have been unchained.

She dragged herself along the dusty and narrow path that led to the notorious twelve pins.

The path was well hidden by bushes so that only those who knew about the twelve pins could access it.

She had heard them talk quietly among themselves about how ‘magically dangerous’ the twelve pin is.

They, the ‘strange ones’, with the funny hair cut.

She had never thought she would be going there herself as she had always sneered at them with the funny hair cut.

As if hypnotized, She found herself  heading there  that  evening.

She craved ‘magic‘ Suicidal as it seemed.

Her heavy feet dragged along the dusty path.

It was a long walk and her throat begged for a drop of liquid.

Any liquid.

Her heart beat faster with every step she took closer to the twelve pins, threatening to bust out of her aching chest.

As she dragged herself along, thoughts…

My Omegle Encounters

4 year old adult's avatar4 Year Old Adult

If you don’t already know Omegle, let me introduce it. It is a website which allows user to chat with random strangers without registering.  In today’s busy world, it is an easy way to find someone to talk to. Launched in 2009, it has garnered huge audience all around the world. If that was not enough, an un-moderated video mode was added in its armory in 2010. I often use it to observe people of various kinds. As per my experience, there are some typical stereotypes of the people who use it:

1) This is a guy who can be from any part of the world. His only identity is that he is a male and he owns an instrument (we may call it a muscular Sword) which is eager to find its Scabbard. Smart readers will understand what I mean. Such guys contribute to almost ninety per cent of…
