Friday’s Motivational Quotes / Re-Posting From Sarah

Sarah's Attic of Treasures's avatarSarah's Attic Of Treasures

The above quote pretty much sums up how we should handle everything in our lives. How we react to any given moment or action is usually how the situation gets handled.
React calmly instead of panicking and you will have CONTROL over the outcome.

Go places you have never been.
Ask for things that are important to you.
If you don’t step up to the plate and do something,
You will never get anywhere.
You will always be stuck right where you are.

I can NOT say that I always choose what is right and what I should do.
When it comes to mornings and forcing myself out of bed when Danny isn’t home, I sadly lack in this department. I usually roll over and try to shut out what is going on around me.
As it gets cooler out, this problem won’t be quite so hard. I can and…

Holiday Wishes…and an Update.

bradsbooks's avatarBrad's Books

Howdy!  Long time no…

Well, I won’t be meeting my self-imposed 2017 deadline for publishing my next book.  The last half of the year has been a roller-coaster ride with lots of twists and turns.  However, I look forward to working on my book, and to getting a little closer to finishing it during the upcoming holiday that I will have while my school is closed for the new year.

I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year.  May 2018 be a safe, peaceful, healthy, enjoyable, prosperous and healing year for us all.

Converting “The DiVacci Curse” from the Stage to a Short Story

bradsbooks's avatarBrad's Books

Today I’d like to talk about my short story, “The DiVacci Curse.”

I originally wrote the “The DiVacci Curse” as a one-act play when I was in the midst of a playwriting class in college way back when.  Converting it from a play to a short story proved a fun and interesting challenge.  In a play, much of the story is told through the character’s actions onstage.  In a story or novel that same action has to be described in detail so that the reader can create those very images in their mind.  Details can be given in graphic, vivid description and exposition or they can be conveyed via character dialog.

A Christmas Post

bradsbooks's avatarBrad's Books

Season’s Greetings!

I felt it important to post a Christmas message being that this is my first Christmas as a blogger.  Living in a foreign country has opened my eyes to the many different ways that people celebrate this most joyous of holidays.

The Japanese (whom less than 1% are Christian) celebrate the season in their own way. Some families give gifts to their children in much the same way that people in other countries typically do.  As for the mystery and magic surrounding Santa Claus and some of the more traditional Christmas customs and practices, the Japanese are not quite as well-schooled as those from countries like Australia, Canada, the U.K., the U.S.A. and many areas of Europe and South America, but that’s understandable.  How many folks in the above countries are well-versed in traditional Shinto and Buddhist holiday practices?  Not the majority, I’m sure.

This year Christmas falls…

BEING POLITE IN CUSTOMER SERVICE

Becky's avatarA GIRL OUT OF THE ORDINARY

I was having a wonderful day. I was in a wonderful mood. Until towards the end of my shift.

Nothing annoys me more when some little dick starts making trouble and thinks I will take it because I am customer service. That I will smile be polite while he is as rude as fuck.

If I am polite while I am taking orders, I expect my customer to be polite. I will not tolerate bullshit! However if I was being a bitch then yes, he can be an asshole. However, I was being polite.

Anyway.

Our tills had been lagging, and I was correcting his order. “I said I didnt want that!” he shouted.

“I know. I am trying to fix the order. The till doesnt work. Thank you.”

“Oh my god you dont have to be so grumpy.”

I dont have to be grumpy? Really? He just bitched me…

I GOT TAGGED! HOLY COW! ^_^

Becky's avatarA GIRL OUT OF THE ORDINARY

Thank you Angela for tagging me.

I can competely understand where you are coming from about panic attacks at work etc. I know what you are thinking, I work at McDs, dont compare it to my job. Frankly I dont  know how you do it. I think you have to have the patience of Job to deal with children, and their parents.

Well, when I changed positions from lobby, where I worked on my own and I didnt have to deal with anybody, I was suddenly thrust up front. Where there was people everywhere. Crowding me, not only did I have to rush rush, I had people yelling at me telling to get their orders. It was very frustrating, especially when the old owners were jerks. I was always having attacks.

Kind of lame story, but I always felt pressure. That I wasnt doing my best.

I was always too nice to say anything…

A LOVELY DAY FOR A DRIVE

Becky's avatarA GIRL OUT OF THE ORDINARY

After having lunch at the Lake, my sister, niece and I decided to spend the rest of the lovely day  in Prespatou. As a child I would spend my summer holidays with my grandparents in Prespatou.

I wonder if I can remember where they used to live. Their houses were moved ✌️

Finally arrived in Prespatou.

I was amazed how modern the little village strived to be, while at the same time remained lost in the past.

The school was painted white. I remembered it being a brown color. A new playground was erected but the skating rink where my cousins and I skated was still there. Rickety and shodden. It was a christmas tradition to skate at the school.

The road was renamed after some industrial company. There were fewer trailers but more modular homes, for the teachers. I wonder how much of shock it was for the Englisch…
