At those freezing heights
Everything trembles
Under those heavy feet.
Those unabated spirits
Roar against every bullet
Which pierce their skin
Obliterate when they touch
Their mighty souls!
Every blow that dent
Their bodies, melt when they
Kiss their relentless grit.

O Mighty soldiers!
Your love for the motherland
Flows deep in the veins
Of the nation you guard.
O Brave soldiers!
Your love for the motherland,
Breathe deep in those muddy trenches
Where you sleep at last!
O Brave warriors!
You are an epitome of sacrifice,
Your tale will be told till we survive!

If you haven’t experienced the wonder that is Coursera, firstly, go and have a look. Secondly, this is a prompt, or rather, one of the assignments from one of the writing courses I’ve taken on there. This one was to take the final words of the lyrics of a song and writea poem using them. So, I wrote two 🙂

(and if you haven’t heart of White Lies… what are you doing with yourself??)

I heard an angel’s voice, singing in quiet prayer
It seemed to pull my heart, slowly straight up the stairs

I spent that night awake, though you lay fast asleep,
I saw a teardrop fall, gently down your cheek

You still love him but she does too, she’ll take him far away from you

Hello! Today’s word was preoccupation and let me tell you, very relevant this morning. this thing took half an hour to cobble together from about eight versions!
