What does it Mean when a grasshopper lands on you?

The Anxiety Chronicles's avatarThe Anxiety Chronicles

This morning as I got on the bus going into the city, I sat down and noticed out of the corner of my eye, something green. When I turned my head to look, it was a green grasshopper. It was sitting still on my arm, starring straight at me (at least that’s what I assume!). If you didn’t know, I am terrified of bugs! So my first reaction was to flick it away! I didn’t want to harm it, just to get it off my arm. It landed on the floor not far from me and just stood there. For a while I kept looking at it from the corner of my eye, hoping it wouldn’t hop on me again, but I couldn’t help but smile. Something in my mind was trying to remind me that grasshoppers are a good sign, i just couldn’t remember what it meant. Once I…

Jury Duty Nerves

The Anxiety Chronicles's avatarThe Anxiety Chronicles

Ok Guys,

Today was the day! I have been here at the court house for jury duty, since 8:30 this morning. You know from a couple of my last posts, that I’ve been very anxious because of this. I’ve never served jury duty and wasn’t exactly sure what to expect.

When speaking with my therapist about it, she walked me through most of the stages and I did feel much better about it. But with each passing day before having to serve, I have been jittery and nervous.

When I woke up this morning, I went about my business of getting dressed and getting myself out the door to take the bus. I decided it would be best, instead of trying to find parking around the court house. The bus arrived late, but luckily I made it here at 8:35am and the line of jurors was very long!

After checking…

Protect Your Energy

The Anxiety Chronicles's avatarThe Anxiety Chronicles

I never use to give much thought to “energy” until one of my sisters told me my energy is what attracts what comes into my life. Over the years I’ve realized she is right. There is a particular person in my life who is so negative and unhappy that I feel drained once I leave them and go home. They have a way of making everything about them and making me feel like I’ve somehow done something wrong. When I go about my days without hanging with that person, I feel lighter and more relaxed. So yes, energy exists. Positive Energy is important to preserve. Take care of your energy, don’t let anyone diminish it ❤️.

The 5 Lies Ruining Your Mental Health

The Anxiety Chronicles's avatarThe Anxiety Chronicles

I read an article from Psychology Today called The 5 Lies Ruining Your Mental Health. A couple of these misconceptions hit a nerve with me.

Lienumber two states that many people who suffer from a mental illness are weak. That couldn’t be further from the truth.People who suffer from mental illness are NOT weak. We can be such a strong and resilient bunch! I suffer from Anxiety and it’s because of this that I push myself to be better. If something scares me, I make it a point to go after it. It might take me a bit longer to work up the nerve, but I get it done.

When I prove to myself that I can take on any challenge or obstacle, it is empowering. Who knows how much I would have accomplished without my anxiety. It really has helped me to step out of my comfort zone…
