Notable actor Donald Sutherland received one of Canada’s highest honors, I read the other day, on Facebook, in an article in The Atlantic. Sutherland has a role in The Hunger Games. That’s the adaptation of the Suzanne Collins novel, about older adolescents who become tributes to patriarchal figures, for the sake of honor.

“Happy Hunger Games! And may the odds be ever in your favor.”

Josh and Manda’s son, Mack, though older, is still approximately the age of the tributes, in the film. While we know he is committed to being his own man, I have heard that Mack has taken an interest in theatre, playing stage roles. In his first few months of uni, I saw a video Mack helped do.

I would enjoy buying a Christmas present, for when he returns in late December, but it is tough to think what the boy could want, given that I…

Today is Kaite’s thirty-fifth chasing the hobbit. She is happily married, to a great guy, and they have hopping careers. She has been known to help clarify life, with thoughtful Christmas contributions.

One gift was a special design, on a coffee thermos, a Maple Lawn Cemetery logo, for the cemetery for who I’m a computer monkey. She is one of our “friendlies.”

To further demonstrate the method to my madness, for one, the purpose of divining astrology, and also to honor my family, I make Sunday phone calls. It is part of my weekend routine each week.

“I got Disney+,” Josh told me, last week, on the phone. “Clara wants it for the children’s entertainment.” Clara is his nine-year-old daughter. “I’ve begun watching The Mandalorian,” Josh let me know.

Josh’s one-eighty impressed me. Here was a chance to watch The Mandalorian, in the company of family. It may not come to pass, but it was a shot.

“It’s good,” Josh said. “You know nothing about the content,” he added, as though to remind me of my shortcomings.

I was a shade subdued. I am not sure he knows I carry a blog, in addition to helping operate the cemetery. I write content, I tweet content, I post content to…

Mary Did You Know

I make full confession that I rarely watch The Voice on NBC. I enjoy it when I do, I just don’t have the commitment to watching any show regularly. My feed on Facebook was flooded with one topic last night: Jordan Smith singing ‘Mary, Did You Know?’

The Voice 2015 Jordan Smith – Finale: “Mary, Did You Know”

I like to include the lyrics with music that I post because I believe words are powerful. For this post I am adding a link to something unique I found that I hope you appreciate as much as I did. Mark Lowry is the author of the song, and when I found the lyrics posted on one site, they included a hyperlink for each line of the song that links to a verse of the Bible for reference. This is worth checking out even if you know all the words…trust me!

The End Of The Story

Overwhelmed By Joy's avatarOverwhelmedByJoy

As I write this, there are four days left in this year and in this decade. I cannot speak for anyone else but I never imagined at the beginning of this decade I would be here.

I was in my mid-40’s with a child in high school and my eldest had just barely given me the title of Nana, still a treasured title. I was happily enjoying life as a wife, mom and friend to several close couples. My older brother Allen and my dad had passed away but we had eventually moved forward by creating new memories.

And then life came to a screeching halt, written in other posts during the 12 month span when my other brother Phil died, three months later my husband of 30 years said he wanted a divorce that I never saw coming, ending with the death of my mother.

I took a very…
