Titus 3:1-2 ESV

“Remind them to be submissive to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work, to speak evil of no one, to avoid quarreling, to be gentle, and to show perfect courtesy toward all people.”

As followers of Jesus Christ, we are to be law-abiding citizens of our nations, with one exception. If a ruler or anyone in authority over us requires of us to disobey God – Father, Son (Jesus Christ) and Holy Spirit – and to disobey the teachings of his Word, we are to obey God rather than man. We are never to deny our Lord to be in submission to human authority.
