IN 10 DAYS, IT WILL BE 28 YEARS…
On July 27, 1991, Laura Ronning was brutally raped and murdered near Tanners Falls.
Laura was a talented, intelligent and beautiful young woman who worked summers as a counselor at Camp Cayuga. Her case has never been solved. Jeffrey Plishka, the only person ever arrested in connection with Laura’s murder, was acquitted of all charges in 2010.
Following this trial, the case was closed, but countless questions linger. I’ve written about Laura many times over the years and grown more convinced that Plishka wasn’t the guy. I could certainly be wrong, but my gut says I’m not.
Next week, my Dad and several co-workers will return with me to the little memorial up at Tanners Falls to spruce it up and pay our respects.
PLEASE , if you have any information about Laura’s death … no matter how small or inconsequential you might think it is … please drop me a note or give me a call. The current Wayne County DA has told me that if your information is credible, he absolutely wants to know about it.
Maybe, just maybe, this is the year that we can give Laura’s family the peace they deserve!
