10 Things that make me really happy, well here goes nothing.

1.     Life, being a widow I’m truly happy to wake up every morning because I know first hand and to young that life is precious.  When I wake up to a new day that makes me happy.

2     My sons.  My four sons are nothing short of a miracle.  I have had endometriosis since I was seventeen so all my babies are miracles.  I have been through infertility workups.  I have had so many female surgeries it isn’t even funny.  I also miscarried twins after my first pregnancy.  I cherished every minute of being pregnant.  My last son Noel was a real miracle to me as well, my husband died and my son was only eighteen months old, so one was taken and one was left behind.

3     Michael.  I love Michael with all my heart and soul.  We met in 1996 and after my husband passed away we reconnected again.  It was like we never skipped a beat in life, so in love like we were all those years ago.  He is the only man on this earth that told me he fell in love with me from the start.  We broke up because his previous girlfriend found out she was pregnant, so he did the right thing and married her. Well all these years later we are now married.  Utterly happy!  We blog together and do everything together.  He loves my sons so much to!  We were brought together again 12.29.2014 and married 1.8.2015.  Meant to be.  He carried my picture and a book that had my poem published in it the whole time he was in the Army, I have been deployed with him everywhere and he carried me in his heart all these years.  So blessed and thankful to Facebook for us reconnecting again.  I don’t know if we ever would have met again if it wasn’t for Facebook.  I like to think that God would have somehow had us cross paths somehow.

4.      The kitchen.  Funny I made my kitchen into a dream.  Commercial products that not a lot of people have in a residential kitchen.  Love food, love cooking.  Crazy thing is after my husband died I immersed myself into home remodeling.  I put my soul into the kitchen.  Michael was a chef in the Army 22 years, he was on the Food Network, went through advanced culinary classes, I feel in my heart that I did the kitchen the way I did for Michael and I.  I had no idea that we would be together, the thought never crossed my mind while doing all the work, but I think I prepared for Michael’s coming home to me.  Needless to say Michael loves the kitchen and he said he wouldn’t change a thing, BLUSHING 🙂

5.     My mom and dad.  They have been there or me all my life.  I am so thankful to have the parents I have.  My mommy has been  there for me through the good, the bad and the ugly.  She is the strongest woman I know.  I love her dearly.  My father is the best always a great provider, a loving father and to this day I tell him “I love you daddy”.  They both came from hard backgrounds.  My parents grew up in Croatia. My father was in the Croatian military not by choice but because it was required.  My mom had to stop school at fourth grade and start working then.  My dad’s dad died when he was extremely young.  My parents came to the states in 1974 with me in my mom’s stomach.  A suitcase and me in her tummy.  They have made life here great for themselves, they have accomplished more than anyone I know.  Funny how well they do in life as opposed to people born here in the US.  Without my mom and dad I would be nothing, literally nothing.

6.     Writing, blogging.  I have been writing since a teenager, I have always been writing.  My mom said it is inherited from my father’s side of the family apparently there are a lot of writers in our family.  The technology that is available now is off the chain for writers.  I love that I was able to start my blog, have access to pictures and things that were unavailable to us many moons ago.  My husband always tried to get me to write and said I needed to do something with my writing and after his death I put my thinking cap on and was able to start, a few failed blogs along the way, then a years worth of research and work and I started my wordpress blog.  Sometimes I feel like I am possessed I will stay up literally over a day just scribbling and scribbling away, the voices in my head are uncontrollable.  Once I get it all out then they magically disappear, but boy dealing with the voices at times make me feel nuts, I have to get my thoughts out.

7.     My sisters.  I love my two sisters with all my heart and soul.  The only thing that saddens me is that I don’t have a good relationship with them.  I am now 40 years old and really crave that connection with my sisters.  We are all ten years apart so there is a big gap in ages for us.  I love them dearly though.  My little sister Lisa I feel is a true miracle.  Mom gave birth to her when she was supposed to be dead. Somehow my mom managed to carry to term and have a wonderful, healthy, baby girl.  My other sister Melissa also experienced a tragedy in her early adult years and pulled through numerous surgeries, graduated a PhD of Pharmacy at Temple and I am so glad that God let her live!  I couldn’t imagine my life without either one of my sisters.

8.     Being a medical laboratory technician.  I feel the Air Force gave me a great fit for me career wise.  I love working in the lab.  Right now I’m studying to take the MLT exam.  I took my phlebotomy exam last year and got a 95 out of 99, I was proud of myself, I’m hoping to do as well on my MLT.  My favorite thing in the lab is microbiology.  I love culturing and plating organisms and figuring out what they are.  Like solving Scooby Doo mysteries in real life.

9.     I love movies.  Horror, drama, mystery, non-fiction crime, serial killers, psychological thrillers, the list can go on and on.  I have always loved this line of movies since I was a little girl.  Silent Fall, Jennifer 8, Amityville, The Shining, The Dark Half, etc.  If I could do life over again with the knowledge I know I would have become a forensic pathologist.

10.     Reading.  I buy books still.  Real book.  I can’t get into reading online.  There is nothing like curling up with a great book and reading it.  I don’t think that passion will ever die for me.  I just bought four books for myself the other day.
