Ladies It’s Finally Time To Remove That Darn Bra… Permanently!

Jeanette's avatarSaint P. Blogging

Seventy five percent of women who tortured themselves by sleeping in their bras developed breast cancer!  One in seven who wear bras for more than twelve hours in a day tend to develop the same type of cancer.  Within one month of getting rid of their bras, women with cysts, breast pain, or tenderness found their symptoms disappeared.

Every day many women are dreaming about what they are going to do immediately when they get out of work.  Reach their hands up and under their shirts, and grab onto their evil… bra hooks! And rip their bras off! Setting their breasts free!  Unrestricted now and able move around, jiggle and wiggle freely.  Such an amazing feeling of freedom, but it kind of makes you wonder, if bras are so uncomfortable why do so many women torture themselves by wearing them so often?  Is this feeling of discomfort that results from wearing these restricting bras a…

Rocky Mountain High

Jeanette's avatarSaint P. Blogging

The Colorado rocky mountains called to me from back when I when I attended church camp after my seventh grade year in junior high school.  One of the songs we sang there was John Denver’s “Rocky Mountain High”.  Fell in love with the imagery it created for me.

When I worked for a company in the Chicago metro area of IL, they assigned me to fill in for a gentleman on maternity leave in CA.  To get there had to take a plane, obviously.  On the way back home to IL had to go through the  Denver International Airport.  While waiting to taxi out of the runway, got to see what Mr. Denver meant by the fire in the sky.

My husband and I went to visit a woman I had become friends with in college who had moved to Fort Collins, CO.  After exploring the area where she lived, we decided…

The inconvenience of friendship

Crissi Langwell's avatarCrissi Langwell

The hardest part about letting people in is that they now have an open door into your life.

I thought about this the other day as I entertained 4 out of the 5 kids who live next door. These kids are the loudest, most obnoxious kids in our whole neighborhood. They bicker constantly. One is whiny and instigates problems with her siblings. One is a bully to his younger siblings. One knows everything about everything. And one doesn’t speak a word because his siblings speak for him. These four kids range in age from 4 to 10, with an 18 m.o. brother at home, and are often left to their own devices – which usually is the reason for their bickering and screaming.

And I seriously adore these kids.

So when two of the kids playing outside asked if they could come over and hang out in my house, I…

Baked Salmon with Egyptian marination

Simona Afifi's avatarSCARF GAL FOOD

Salmon as it is known here in USA, it is not that common or even existing with that form and color in Egypt. I have never eaten or seen that type of Salmon in Egypt, however since I came to USA, it has become one of my most favorite type of fish. It is so easy to cook and usually sold as fillets so I do not have to deal with bones. I marinate the salmon as I marinate any Egyptian seafood dish, however I tweak a few things that Egyptians do not usually do like adding the mustard or olive oil in the fish marination. It is a healthy dish and very yummy! Enjoy!

Ingredients

4-5 salmon fillets pieces
2 limes juice
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1/2 tablespoon mustard
1 tablespoon olive oil
4 minced or small diced garlic cloves
1/2 diced bell pepper
few green onions slices

How to Write With Your Back Against the Wall

drewchial's avatarDrew Chial

1. Hands Up

There are a lot of quotes on writing in need of correction, like this one:

If writing isn’t fun don’t do it.
CORRECTION
If writing isn’t fun don’t do it. do it anyway.

You’ve probably heard this old chestnut:
If you don’t think writing is fun you’re not cut out for it.
CORRECTION
If you don’t think expect writing is to be fun all the time you’re not cut out for it.

A work ethic is one of many things that separates hobbyists from professional writers (the others include: talent, an education, connections, a body of work, and luck).

It’s been raining all week. I haven’t felt like writing the entire time. I just wanted to lie on the couch and binge watch all the TV shows my friends are always assigning. I forced myself to write the first paragraph of a new chapter, some setting description to remind…
