Summer is gold to a college student: free time and sun rays, plus no more papers, tests, or cringe-worthy group projects. But don’t let my sun-kissed skin fool you, summer is also an adult death trap. It’s the time when an out-of-state student has to decide whether to go home to their rents, or stay in the school-vicinity and ride out the months solo.

This summer I’m staying in D.C., and housing is a disaster. According to a Washington Post article, D.C. is ranked fourth among most expensive cities to live in in the nation. As a matter of fact, D.C.’s median price for a one bedroom apartment is $2,000. Not exactly in the price range of a college student.
