The Western church is about to enter stage two of its exile from the mainstream culture and the public square. And it will not be an easy time.

In case you missed it, Exile Stage One began a few decades or so ago, budding in the sexual revolution of the sixties before building up a head of steam some 20 years ago. Finally some Christians sat down to talk about it 15 or so years ago, and that set the ball, and the publishing companies rolling.

For those of us in ministry who were culture watchers, Exile Stage One was a heady time.  Only we never called it Exile Stage One. We simply called it “Exile”, and poured over biblical texts such as the exilic book of Daniel and its New Testament counterpart 1Peter.  After all no one ever called World War One “World War One” before World War Two came along…

Having a bit of a sinus infection.  Started late night on Sunday….got worse Tuesday evening. Been getting lots of rest.  And on Wednesday there was a bit of relief and the hour spent outside in the early evening fresh air did some good.  Then my tummy nudged me with requests for a bowl of soup that would hit the spot…..both nasally and digestively. Haha.

So…..sautéing of the essential chopped onions and celery in olive oil, followed by some chopped fresh garlic and a slice of fresh ginger, also chopped.  Mmm….the smell of ginger for the nose!  Yes.  Oh, and for something different, I added in some tiny button mushrooms.  They always look so cute!  The broth was a mixture of chicken stock, water, and light miso paste.  This time I decided to go with lighter noodle fare and picked Asian rice noodles.  Didn’t have tofu, so I sliced up a…

Twisted Five Senses

Make Me numb

Because life’s pain

I don’t want to feel

Make me deaf

Because the truth

I don’t want to hear

Make me blind

Because reality

Cut out my tongue

I don’t want to smell

So I am trying to try this blogging thing one more time. As I was reading some blogs someone was doing a 30 day writing challenge. I was intrigued so therefore I found a challenge to do…so here we go.

Day 1 Write some basic things about yourself

Well I am a single mom of 4, ages 17-4. Three girls and one boy. I served 11yrs in the Army. I have been overseas once and was involved with Hurricane Katrina. I have been married twice but now I am single. I am also a licensed cosmetologist.

Well that’s a little about me. Can’t wait to see what the next days have in store.
