quiet and lonely

no scrape of a chair

This year there are many classrooms that stand waiting in lonely anticipation for the voices of children…

Thank you Firefighters – yours is a thankless job!!!

What Is Your Creative Writing Process, Writer?

Ana P. Rose's avatarAna P. Rose's Blog

Today I only have a simply question for you. What is your creative writing process? What are your little quirks as a creative writer? What inspires you to write: poetry, lyrics, blogs, short stories, micro-fiction, fiction, non-fiction, etc.?

I’ll bulletproof mine below. It’s not detailed because that would take me a book. But it’s enough to share with you my part of my creative writing process. What’s yours? Let me know in the comment section. Have a blessed week, everyone!

  • Freewrite. I just let it flow without worrying about mistakes or loose words that won’t make it to the final copy.
  • Sometimes I listen to a particular genre to get in the mood of whatever I wish to write.
  • I always try to bring it back to a self-lesson or a positive outlook. (I know I shouldn’t always do this but oh well).
  • Anything or anyone can be my muse…

Friday Song #3 “Fuiste Tu”

Ana P. Rose's avatarAna P. Rose's Blog

Hello, everyone! I’ve been busy writing, mainly editing, a collection of short stories for my M. A. English portfolio. I’m running late on it. So I forgot about the Friday song. This week I chose “Fuiste Tu”(It Was You) by Ricardo Arjona a Guatemalan singer-songwriter. This is a duet with Gaby Moreno, another Guatemalan singer. They’re both very talented artists. She’s also a singer-songwriter. Gaby learned English by listening to English music, which is quite impressive! She studied music in the United States. I’ll post something of hers later.

I’m a big fan of duets. I love them! So this is one of my favorite Spanish duets. I’ll post the video below. The video was recorded in Antigua, Guatemala. I will also paste the lyrics in English below the video. It’s not my translation by the way. They’re roughly accurate.

Ricardo is considered the Latin Bob Dylan because…

What’s Another Stripe On A Tiger?

Have you ever had that look of the doubt from a person basically saying, “Are you crazy?” In my case, and I’m sure I’ve blogged about this look before, people look at me like I am crazy when I say, “I am writing a book.” Those doubtful eyes make me laugh now, not in a petty way. It makes me laugh because writing a book is daring. I know thousands embark on this writing journey. Some “make it” and others “don’t,” regardless if the writer is a good or bad writer.

I finally woke up one day and said, “Who cares if I ‘make it’ or not. I want to write a book, period.” The looks of doubt don’t really bother me anymore. I get it. Many people don’t even attempt to follow a daring dream because it scares them. I’ve been there. I know.

When you think about it…

Unstable Leaders….

BW CAREY's avatarpaddypicasso

Where’s common sense gone, bickering and back biting, police on the streets, protesters, the army more important than health care, everyone doubting, new ideas running out, chaos, as the two giants of politics meet in the amphitheater, hoping to convince the voter, who is bombarded with twenty four seven news, sights of violence and fear on TV, confused thinking, wealth deemed the winning cause, you’ll do better with us, can this be a picture of the United States today, the so called leader of the free world, seriously.

Too much time spent of making money and not enough on creating community usually ends in chaos for all, it’s the story of the family, where the father figure spends all his time working while ignoring the emotional needs of the family, it all fall apart’s, and it leads to recrimination and blame thereafter, as to why it happened.

An Affair to Remember — Lehman Loves A Movie

Okay, chill the hell out Meg Ryan. My only real knowledge of the legendary “An Affair to Remember” came from the plot of “Sleepless in Seattle” (apparently when the Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan flick was released in 1993, VHS sales of “An Affair to Remember” skyrocketed) and the iconic meeting on the top of […]
