.
You spoke freehearted,
So much needed to be said.
I replied openhearted,
To your heart and not your head.
You were free-spoken,
When you laid down all your terms.
And I was quite outspoken,
’bout the fear of unknown germs.
Plain, straight, unguarded;
Placed your cards on the table.
Plainspoken and unreserved
But somehow still a fable.
Candid and direct,
Exposed what you meant to me.
But your forthright intellect
Spoke and said you were heart-free.
Honest and foursquare,
That’s the policy of truth.
Up-front and out-front with care
Still I blame it all on youth.
Always forthcoming,
But this time I wish you’d lied.
Open mind too revealing,
Broken heart is what you ply.
