Be Careful Little Eyes What You See

Recently I have been reading through Matthew again and it has quickly become one of my favorite books. It gives a ton of good accessible advice that is applicable to our every day lives. One passage I was reading a few days ago really hit me hard:

“Your eye is a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is good, your whole body is filled with light. But when your eye is bad, your whole body is filled with darkness. And if the light you think you have is actually darkness, how deep that darkness is!” Matthew 6:22-23

I think what this passage is getting at is that whatever you subject yourself to seeing regularly, is what you fill yourself with. For example, if I am reading the bible every day and looking at many positive messages and trying to watch good shows on TV, then I…

The Attack of the Shark!!!

vishalsen7's avataroutoftheoblivion

Sharks are a group of fish characterized by a cartilaginous skeleton, five to seven gill slits on the sides of the head. Modern sharks are classified within the clade Selachimorpha and are the sister group to the rays, but well that’s all scientific gibberish which wouldn’t make sense to over half of the people reading this so let me get straight to the point…

And that is whether or not sharks are dangerous to us or not?

image

Contrary to popular belief, only a few sharks are dangerous to humans. Out of more than 470 species, only four have been involved in a significant number of fatal, unprovoked attacks on humans:
1-The Great White
2-Oceanic Whitetip
3-Tiger sharks
4-Bull sharks

Each one of the above listed 4 sharks are large, powerful predators, and may sometimes attack and kill people. Despite being responsible for attacks on humans they have all been filmed without using a protective cage which only tells us…

Acne Helped Me To FEEL

Alicia M. Blanco's avatarAn Inner Beauty Blog

By: Carolina Guzman

In 2014, my life had an interesting turn of events. My whole life I had clear and smooth skin. I would often get so many compliments by friends and even perfect strangers about the clarity of my skin. But out of nowhere, I started to break out. Not just a pimple or two, but all over my face. Nothing seemed to work to clear it up. My confidence that I had built up over the years started to deteriorate at a rapid speed. I became depressed. I didn’t want to leave the house. I remember one day walking into the gym, and as I changed in the locker room, I broke down into tears and called my father to pick me up. I felt ugly. I felt like everyone was staring at me.

I spent many nights at home, completely alone, which awarded me with a lot…

Tears

Did you know mother
Did fear not show in my eyes
Did you turn a blind eye
Did you see the tears i cried.
Your love for him outweighed your heart
The maternal thoughts rebuked
His stinking breath,gravel voice
Remember how i puked.
You abandoned me without concern
Left in dark distress
I blame myself everyday
For this life my rancid mess
Did you understand mother
In the fullness of time
Maybe you were just as guilty of the innocence robbing crime

Ordinary People

**Let me preface this post with saying that I’m normally not this dark, but sometimes life is dark. And I don’t think you should ignore those times. So this is me being real about the place that we sometimes find ourselves.**

I don’t exactly know where I’m at. I guess it’s a place between brokenness and wholeness, joy and sadness, piece of mind and anxiety of the heart.

I wish I could say that this is the post at the end of the struggle. The one telling you that it does, in fact, get better. I really wish it was.

But I think there are enough posts out there like that. This post is for the people like me who are still in the middle of their struggle, hoping, in vain, for the lesson to be over and the next season to come.

I wish this was the post that…

Alone together!

Abhishek K's avatarBahusruta

I read a wonderful article that was published in the hindu newpaper’s editorial section based on an article from the guardian;  that really drove home the point how we shouldn’t be so bogged down by loneliness and how it is nothing to be afraid off!

Here’s the article-

If you get the knack of being alone it can be a luxury you’ll learn to love

Loneliness can creep through your bones like a disease, wash over you unexpectedly as if a stranger’s vomit, or sit in the pit of your stomach for weeks like undigested chewing gum. Especially, it turns out, if you’re young.

A survey carried out by Opinium for The Big Lunch has found that 83 per cent of 18-to 34-year-olds have experienced the dull, quiet ache of being lonely, which is no surprise to me.

Of course it’s easy to be lonely in your 20s. You may…
