The broken bits of me…

maxpowerbooks's avatarMaxpower's Blog

I like the broken bits of me, including the pieces that aren’t all there. My missing pieces are the unconnected things, that make me stare at my life and wonder if I could have done better. The cracks in my psyche and the folds in my skin are akin to lifelines. They keep me grounded and without my history, the so-called wisdom I have gained with age, those flaws I have collected and display daily, I would be far less a man than the one who sits here today.

I could say perhaps that these days, the mirror is less kind to me than it once was. But to be fair, what I could choose to see as the cruelty of time as I am being slowly ravaged by each the tick of the clock, is nothing more than a reflection of a life lived. There is beauty in the…

An option…

zestofthoughts's avatarZest Of Thoughts

Shabby and tethered fabric is a new now exhausted fashion trend,

Phobias and disorders are swimming in the current mental systems,

Flow of needs and lack of means,

No doubt, human beings are indulging in suicides as an option for hardtimes.

That’s why i post my thoughts coupled with flowers…..

zestofthoughts's avatarZest Of Thoughts

Many a times i feel the thoughts we express can only be complemented by the glimpse of the flowers

Those colours of flowers seem to enhold the shades of different thoughts

They seem to just convey the right fragrance of thoughts to the senses

The aura of thoughts cannot be better expressed by anything but the beauty of flowers

Fresh flowers soak the raw pulp of thoughts and a drop of water from the ocean of heart sits on the surface of display for anybody to read through its sight and taste the spice of your thinking.

While the barren thoughts surrender their grounds of strength to the flowers fading on the stem ready to fall in the soil of present to become past and breed a new future.

Five Minute Friday — Mercy

wisdomfromafather's avatarThe Light

Happy Friday! Time for this week’s installment of Five Minute Friday!

I cherish this exercise. which gives me a chance to shut off the world and focus on a specific word prompt. It gives my mind a chance to ponder the word and send the thoughts cascading through my fingers onto the screen for all to see. But the best part is visiting the community at fiveminutefriday.com and join with others in our special tribe of writers. It’s always exciting — and often informative — to see how my fellow FMF friends develop their thoughts in a variety of different genres. If you get a chance, stop by.

I’ve been sharing snippets taken from Five Minute Friday: A Collection of Stories Written in Five Minutes Flat compiled by Susan Shipe. They are a testament to the value of the exercise. This week, I’ll share some perspective from Helen who I…

Call to Love

wisdomfromafather's avatarThe Light

Did you ever come across a book where you knew the ending just a few pages in, yet still wanted to see how the story unfolded?

That was the intrigue of the thoroughly Christian romance Call to Love penned by first time author Mary A. Felkins. I listened to the audio version as company during a three state visit over the weekend, so I felt the power of Felkins’ words through the narration of Trenton Bennett.

The love story captured my attention {of course, while paying attention to the road at all times}. I never thought I would hear myself saying this, but I was 8:13 shy of finishing a chapter when I pulled into my son’s driveway. As the grandkids and dog swarmed to the car, I paused the reading. But those last eight minutes and 13 seconds gnawed at my soul so after the initial rush of greeting…
