Fishermen at Sea by Joseph Mallord William Turner (1775 – 1851)

A Prayer for Times of Uncertainty

My Lord God, I have no idea where I am going. I do not see the road ahead of me. I cannot know for certain where it will end. Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I think I am following Your will does not mean that I am actually doing so. But I believe that the desire to please You does in fact please you. And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing. I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire. And I know that, if I do this, You will lead me by the right road, though I may know nothing about it. Therefore I will trust You always though I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death. I will not fear, for You are ever with me, and You will never leave me to face my perils alone.(Thomas Merton, 1915-1968)

Mel's avatarmomentsbymel

Find that space in the sky, where the sunlight is trying to come through. Let it touch you. It longs for you. Feel its freedom. Allow it to reach you, to touch you and fill you up with goodness and hope. Let it hold you and trust that it can.

It wants you know that their is nothing that you can’t handle.

It’s okay to fall apart. It’s okay to allow the dismay and despair of it all, to reach inside of you. Allow it to reach inbetween your crevices an in between the spaces that are bare, their is a possibility, an opening. An opportunity to free yourself like never before.

bible-contradiction-where-did-joseph-and-mary-live-before-the-birth-of-jesus

In light of the upcoming season as we head towards Christmas today’s post will tackle another question that the Skeptic Annotated Bible asked: “Where did Joseph and Mary live before the birth of Jesus?”

Here are the two answers which the skeptic believes shows a Bible contradiction (the emphasis and what is skipped over is done by the skeptic):

They lived in Nazareth, and traveled to Bethlehem because of a census.

Now in those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus, that a census be taken of all the inhabited earth. This was the first census taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria. And everyone was on his way to register for the census, each to his own city.Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and…

In line with yesterday’s post, The Art of the Short Story, I’m sure this 40 second video would be considered #FlashFiction. And no, I did not do a word count. This is just a little ridiculousness. 😉

Poem n Picture CLOUD

“If you are a poet, you will see clearly that there is a cloud floating in this sheet of paper.”—Thich Nhat Hanh

Before you became a cloud, you were an ocean, roiled and

murmuring like a mouth. You were the shadow of a cloud

crossing over a field of tulips. You were the tears of a

man who cried into a plaid handkerchief. You were a sky

without a hat. Your heart puffed and flowered like sheets

drying on a line.

And when you were a tree, you listened to trees and the tree

things trees told you. You were the wind in the wheels of a

red bicycle. You were the spidery Maria tattooed on the

hairless arm of a boy in downtown Houston. You were the

rain rolling off the waxy leaves of a magnolia tree. A lock

of straw-colored hair wedged between the mottled pages of a
