I have been taking much-needed downtime.  I haven’t been blogging lately because I came down with a kidney infection and anemia.

My husband took me to the emergency room after a bout of not feeling well at all.  Fever, chills, vomiting, etc…  I chocked it up to the flu.

Well, well was I ever wrong.  They tested me at the emergency room and voila I had a kidney infection.  My infection was so bad my WBC count was 18.7 and they told my husband I was going to have to be admitted.  My potassium was wiped out as well.  I was blindsided with them admitting me I just thought he would take me and I would get medicine and get sent home.  Well, I gained 14 pounds from all the IV fluid I was given in my four-day stay.  Also, my HGB went down to 8.3 during my stay.  They thought my HGB went down because of all the IV fluid I had received so they disconnected me for a while and retested me and my results went down again.  So it wasn’t that.

My husband has been juggling all six kiddos and the house and school and coming to visit me as well.

I was sent home and I am still very weak and have just been on the mend.  I am just now getting strength back.  I still have a severe headache and my neck hurts so badly.  So I am slowly getting my health back.

During the course of my stay both of my arms played a game can you find the vein for the IV.  Both my arms are bruised and hopefully will look normal sometime again haha.  Lord I hate IV’s with a passion.  They finally had to get a machine that looks for your veins and place an IV that way.

They told me that if I had waited one more day that I would have been septic.

The hospital from the emergency room to the nurses, staff, and doctors were stellar!  I am so grateful to every single one of them!

I can’t say enough thanks to my husband Michael for taking me to the emergency room and tending to my every need.  He is the pillar of everything I’ve ever wanted in a man.  I love him with all my soul and I am so grateful to be alive to his quick thinking and command decision of taking me to the emergency room.

I am stubborn.  I have worked in the medical field since 1992 and I don’t like to go to the emergency room unless I really have to.  Well, apparently this time I really had to go because it wasn’t the flu which was my diagnosis from home.
