As discussed in our previous post, Chakras are closely connected with our endocrine system which is composed of glands that secrete chemical messengers termed “hormones” into the blood stream. These hormones in turn help regulate many major body functions and ensure our well-being.
The Root Chakra in particular is associated with the adrenal glands.
Where are the Adrenal Glands located?
The word “adrenal” comes from the Latin origin: ‘ad renes’, which translates to “near the kidney”.
Accordingly, each healthy individual has 2 adrenal glands (1 above each kidney), and they play important roles, especially during times of stress. Their location just above the kidneys explains their strong influence on kidney function.
Interestingly, these 2 glands are not symmetrical whereby the right one is triangular shaped, whereas the left one is crescent-shaped.
