This Is My Writing Process. What’s Yours?

Ana P. Rose's avatarAna P. Rose's Blog

What’s my writing process? I’ll provide a list:

  1. I have to start writing or typing. Whether it’s a superb idea or not, I need to write to allow my thoughts to flow.
  2. I have music on at decent amount of volume when I brainstorm by writing. And I leave the music on for my first draft of anything. Absolute silence drives me nuts. However, I cannot write while watching television.
  3. I need to be alone to write. Some in-class writing projects have become a bit difficult because I need 1, 2, & 3 to concentrate. But I can write in coffee shops as long as no one is breathing on my neck about my assignment, such as when I’m in class. And as long there isn’t a crowd talking & laughing Loling.
  4. I pause to contemplate on what I have written, and this is when I begin to edit and…

Why Do You Write?

Ana P. Rose's avatarAna P. Rose's Blog

Hi, I was sitting thinking about the book (fiction, low fantasy) I am writing and why I wrote my recent short story, The Eye of the Cat. And I thought, why do I like writing? Usually, my answer is, “I don’t know. I just like writing.” After thinking about it a bit more, I came up with a list. So, here’s a short list of why I think I write.

  • I have a big imagination (fiction writing).
  • It’s therapeutic (journal writing).
  • It helps me clear out my many thoughts (brainstorming).
  • It helps me express deeper emotions (free verse)
  • It helps me meet new types of writers and what they like to write about (social media & blogging).

Why do you like to write poetry, fiction, nonfiction, or why do you blog etc.? Let me know in the comments below. I’m curious.

Introduction

Part 1

The human race has fallen a long way short of the standard, to merit the positive intervention of the Divine. Some say, we have abandoned true faith in God Most High altogether, and replaced him with materialism, idol worship, and things, stuff as you call it. Faith meaning pure love, active belief, not armchair belief, but doing it. The rulers of the earth, those that currently control the fate of so many, be it through policy or the non enactment of policies that ought to be enacted, to them faith is an inconvenient truth. It’s only an opinion. But as the saying goes, you get out of the well…

Cover Up

She puts on her robes, dresses the traditional way, covers up. Women pass her on the street, they look at her, odd they think, who’d want to cover up. She spends five minutes preparing to go out, they spend an hour worrying about how they look, who was covering up. She doesn’t seek the admiring glances of men, she has no intention to tease. It’s odd she thinks, the way some seek the attention, when they ought to seek happiness. One day they will understand.

the child comes homes after school, the welcome is personal, his mother is waiting for him, They discuss the school, what did you learn today, no stones no anxieties, they chat about the news, he tells her what he is doing, about the school trip next week. She smiles as she watches him leave the dining room, he is heading off to see friends.
