WORKING THROUGH YOUR PROPHETIC WORDS

“Most personal prophecy is NOT self-fulfilling. In order to not only understand, but walk in the fullness of the prophetic word you have received, you must welcome those around you who are more seasoned and mature to help properly examine the word you have received.

Counsel, prayer, and oversight are absolutely necessary to insure that you have not blown the prophetic word you have received out of proportion. For example, a simple prophetic word given to an individual about evangelism can quickly turn in their mind into a word about them being the next Billy Graham. Mature and seasoned people around this individual will quickly diminish the delusions of grandeur and release that individual into a much more lower-key style of evangelism.

Once again, it is dangerous to work through personal prophecy in ISOLATION. (Unless there is no other option as in the case of Joseph). Personal prophecy must be wrestled with in fellowship with others so that many counselors can release wisdom and correction.

When is the last time YOU sent or shared a personal prophetic word that you received to people more mature and seasoned and asked them for their honest counsel? Maybe the word was off? Maybe it was right on? Maybe you are suppose to partner with the word through a specific strategy? Maybe the timing is off? We must remain humble enough to submit the prophetic words we receive to trusted friends and mentors to help us filter through and process what we believe we “heard” God saying.”
