He was there waiting
Though she hadn’t
Been quite sure
Knew he would be
He’d been like that
From day one
What he said he did
She appreciated
That about him

She thought those
Short minutes
Clearing customs
And walking through
The doors marked
“Welcome to Canada”
About what he would do.

Greet her quietly
Yell out in glee
Hug her and hold her
Then he did all three

That first kiss
A shocking PDA
In the middle of the airport
Before he whisked her away

“Are you hungry” he said
His hand on her knee
As they drove off
About twenty to three

“No” she murmured
Still taking it all in
She was finally with him

The hotel was bright
Big and well appointed
